Katarche is run by Western Slope Digital, LLC. By using the site you agree to what follows. It is written to be understood; nothing in it is hidden in a clause.
What this site is
An archive of timelines of documented events, each entry carrying its source, and an astrological event chart calculated for the recorded instant and place of that entry. The astronomy is a calculation. The timeline is the primary object and the chart is its visualization.
What it is not
Nothing here claims that astrology caused, predicted or explains any event. No chart on this site is advice. It is not medical, legal, financial, psychological or professional advice of any kind, and it is not a basis for a decision about your health, your money, your safety or anyone else’s. The site offers no interpretation of any chart and no forecast of anything. If you want a reading, see an astrologer.
The archive records when things happened and what the sky was doing. It draws no line between the two, and neither should anything you build on it.
Accuracy, and its limits
Every timestamp is taken from a stated source and every entry says how firm it is. Some are fixed to the second by an instrument; some are fixed to the minute by a document; some carry no hour at all, are marked as such, and have their houses and angles withheld because those would be invented. Where sources disagree, both figures are recorded. The Methodology and Sources and provenance pages set out the whole procedure.
That care does not make the archive infallible. Sources are wrong, transcriptions slip, and calculations have tolerances. The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, and neither Western Slope Digital, LLC nor anyone working on the project is liable for any loss arising from your use of it. If you find an error, write and it will be corrected; that is how this archive is meant to work.
Membership
The archive is free to everyone: every timeline and register, with every chart in all four traditions. A membership, which belongs to an account, opens the astrologer’s tools: the Sky and Practice pages of the menu, with sync between devices and bookings in the inbox.
- Price. Monthly or yearly, at the prices shown on the membership page when you start, charged by Stripe.
- Trial. The first 30 days are free. A card is taken at the start and is not charged until the trial ends. Cancel before it ends and nothing is charged.
- Renewal. Membership renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel at any time from your account page, which opens the Stripe billing portal. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. No notice is required and nobody has to be asked.
- Refunds. The 30-day trial is there so you can decide before paying anything. Once a period is charged it is not refunded, and cancelling stops the next charge rather than returning the last one. If something has gone genuinely wrong — you were charged twice, or charged after cancelling — write and it will be put right.
- Price changes. Any change to the price is emailed to members before it takes effect, and takes effect only at the start of a period, so you can cancel first.
Your account is yours. Do not share sign-in links or let others use your membership.
Referrals
Every member has a link of their own, on the account page. When someone makes an account through it and becomes a member:
- They get the referral discount shown with the link, at the membership’s checkout. It starts after the free trial, on the first paid period, and is given once for each account.
- You get one free month, as a credit on your own next bill at your own price, for each member you bring, once their first payment has been held for the time shown on the account page without a refund or a dispute. It is credit, never money, and only while you are a member. The account page shows how many credits a year are possible; past that, a referral is counted and credits nothing.
- Not yourself. Your own account, your own address in another form, or your own Stripe customer earns nothing. A refund or a dispute reverses the credit it gave, and a credit given for it is taken back from your balance.
- Honest sharing. Do not post your link where it would be spam, and do not describe the site as anything but what it is: an archive and tools that compute charts and do not interpret them. A link used to abuse these terms can be closed.
The discount and the credit are set in Stripe and may change for new links and new members; a change never takes back a credit already earned. Astrologers and writers with an audience can apply to be partners, paid a share for a term under their own agreement.
Accounts
An account is free, and one is for one person. Keep the email address on it working: if every passkey is lost, the emailed link is the way back in. You can delete the account from its page at any time, and it goes at once; its membership ends with it, and nothing more is charged. We may close an account used to abuse the site or other people, and we will say why at its address.
What you may do with what is here
The site, its software and the archive’s own work (the selection and arrangement of the entries, their text, the research notes and the constellation figures) are copyright Western Slope Digital, LLC, all rights reserved. Using the site gives you no licence to copy or redistribute them beyond what this section allows.
The source material is not ours to license: entries quote and cite reports, filings, logs and releases that belong to their authors, and are reproduced for research and commentary. The public datasets carry their own licences, which are named on the Sources page and must be honoured.
The charts you generate, and the cards and clips you export, are yours to use, including commercially, provided you do not present them as endorsed by this project and you do not strip the attribution from an export that carries one. A link back is appreciated and not required.
You may not scrape the site in a way that degrades it for others, misrepresent the archive’s findings, or present an interpretation as something this project says. The archive states when things happened. It does not say what they mean.
Independence
This project is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any source, agency, publication, account or platform it cites. Naming a source is a citation, not a claim of connection.
Living people, and the recently dead
Some timelines cover events involving people who are alive, and some cover proceedings that are still before a court. Those entries record what documents say and mark allegations as allegations. They are not findings of fact about anyone, and nothing in this archive should be read as an accusation. If an entry about you is wrong, write and it will be looked at properly.
Changing these terms, and ending things
These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them, and the change is in the public commit history along with everything else about this project. A change that materially affects members is emailed to members first. Access may be withdrawn from anyone who attacks the site or abuses it; if that happens to a paying member, the unused part of the period is refunded.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Colorado, United States, and any dispute belongs in the courts there. Where the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be signed away, you keep them: nothing here is meant to take them from you.
